Representative Assembly – Doctors of BC May 29, 2020 – summary for neurology
Dr. Torin Glass is our Neurology representative on the Representative Assembly at the Doctors of BC. Here is a summary of the May 29, 2020 meeting:
Here is a short report from the RA assembly meeting last week.
I’ve attached the agenda for your review as necessary. A review of the COVID-19 actions taken by DoBC is included within this and was reviewed by Allan Seckel.
The main agenda article was the discussion of the main focus that the RA wished DoBC Board of Directors to focus on through the next board meeting, which was voted on and over 50% voted for “Compensating Physicians in the Context of COVID-19 & Subsequent Health System Change” as being the primary issue affecting our future at this stage.
There was nothing new brought forward in the open question period from Neurology.
One topic of interest was the concern, mainly from GP networks, of the increase in corporate entities trying to purchase offices and with the promotion of Telus’ virtual doctor platforms that have the potential to circumvent the traditional medicine pathway. The DoBC discussed potentially planning a committee in this area for review.
Others expressed interest in an adjustment of the current by-laws to encourage online/Zoom meetings in the future, potentially with more frequent half-days and fewer in-person meetings yearly.
Next meeting on October 2, 2020 via Zoom.
I will forward the minutes when available. Let me know if there is anything you would like brought up.
Cheers
Torin
